Nicolas “Sparth” Bouvier started working in the videogame industry in 1996 after recieving a traditional art education at the “Art Deco” school in Paris. He started working fully digital in the early 2000’s, after he finished working on Alone in the Dark4 (2001,Darkworks ). After working on Cold Fear (2005, Darkworks studio) he left Paris and moved to Montreal to work fo Ubisoft. There he worked on Prince of Perrsia: Warrior Within and Assassin’s Creed. He later worked on ID Software’s Rage and Microsoft’s Halo Series.
His tecnique involves the creation of several personalized Photoshop brushes to allow better control of the on screen elements, speed up the creative process and give a stronger feel to the illustration. According to “d’Artiste, Digital artists master classes” Nicolas loves post.apocalyptic landscapes because there is so much room for imagination, as seen in his illustration work for Dune and concept art for Rage.
